It’s Wine and Love Thursday!!! Check out Suki’s blog to participate!!

Wine:

* Being disappointed in people. It sucks :(

* I just want to punch Thursday in the face. I don’t understand why it takes someone twenty minutes to give a yes/no answer. People in my office need to learn to communicate better. It’s painful.

* Having to visit my nanny in the hospital on our birthday :( She was having trouble breathing but is better now.

Love:

* Had an awesome birthday, thanks to PJ. He made me an amazing dinner and dessert on Saturday night, followed by church, shopping and BRAVE on Sunday (my actual birthday). Thank you all for the birthday wishes!!

*The roses that PJ surprised me with last Friday are still holding up.

* The Lab opens today!! So excited to see this dream come true!! Congrats, Thomas and Pam!!

Wordless Wednesday (kinda): MY NEW HAIR!!! Wednesday, Jun 20 2012

In case you missed it, I chopped all of my hair off this weekend. Read about it here.

What I learned this weekend Monday, Jun 18 2012

This weekend was a blur. Between practice and Gala on Saturday and Father’s Day Sunday, it just flew by. But, I would have to say I learned something.

What did you learn? you might be asking (well, I hope you are because then what would be the point of this post).

Lesson learned: don’t do anything rash on the day you have a huge performance.

Now, I’m not saying that cutting my hair was wrong, at all. I actually love it, now. But, sitting that chair, I thought I made a mistake. I had been wanting to but my hair for A VERY LONG TIME (just ask anyone who knows me, it was to the point of annoyance…even I can admit that), but I don’t do good for me. I’m always helping someone else out so my BFF took care of that for me. After practice and before lunch on Saturday, I was told that we were making a detour. I knew she wasn’t going to tell me so I just went along for the ride, never crossed my mind that we were going to the AVEDA Institute. After getting out the car and heading inside, we walk up to the counter and very nice young lady asked if we needed help. We told her that I wanted to cut my hair and asked if they had any appointments available that day. She said that they had appoints opens at 1:30 and 2. I knew that if I didn’t do it then, it was going to be forever before I cut my hair. I swallowed down my nervousness and scheduled the appointment for 2.

The time came and before I knew it, I was sitting the chair with a cape around me and wet hair in clips. She made the first cut, and I knew there was no going back, not that I wanted her to. After she cut off a majority of my hair, Elaine comes to see me after my manicure. She asked if I was okay (Yes, I was) and if I liked it (Yes, I did). I just felt like crying. I think it was because it was such a drastic change. Short hair is nothing new to me (my om had my sister and I’s hair cut really short when we were younger). I just haven’t had my hair cut or this short in some time. To be honest, it took me a few days to get use to it and to really fall in love with it (though  I’m not 100% in love with the flip bang in the front).

I’m really happy that Elaine did this for me (because there was no way I going to this for myself). It now actually takes me longer to get ready in the morning because I have to actually DO my hair, which leads me to this question: what are good products for short hair? I need help!!

I got a hair cut!!! Sunday, Jun 17 2012

I cut all my hair off, y’all!!!!

A change Saturday, Jun 16 2012

Quick post today!! Between practice and getting ready for tonight, I decided to do something crazy. Here’s the before:

Now you have to wait for the after!!

If my feet could talk Friday, Jun 15 2012

They would probably yell at me for treating them so poorly. I’m in heals 5 days a week, eight hours a day (although I’m not on my feet for that long) and I dance at least two days a week for multiple hours. No wonder they hurt.

And on top of that, I think I am wearing the wrong size shoe. A half size too small.

My toes hang off the side of my shoe and they hurt a lot.

Did you know that you aren’t suppose to be able to feel the arch support in your shoe. It’s there for support, not to be stepped on. I didn’t know this at all.

I have a high arch so finding shoes that are right for me has always been a problem. I also have to find shoes that fit my wide feet, which can be a problem when you want cute shoes!

My advice: make sure you are buying the correct size shoe for your foot. Go get measured (just like ladies should when buying a bra) and seek advice when purchasing shoes. That is so important to the health of your feet, and yourself.

How do you get past it? Wednesday, Jun 13 2012

I have all these ideas in my head about things I want to write about. I even write notes to myself as to remind myself to write about said things.

Then nothing. Nata. Stuck.

I have these half brain ideas, bursting to be written in the moment but nothing to write them on. Nothing to commit them to memory. Not enough time.

Once I sit down to finally write, nothing comes out, not even with my little notes. I hate that I have these ideas but nowhere to put them. It’s frustrating.

So, tell me, how do you do it?

I still got ‘em….tonsils, that is. Tuesday, Jun 12 2012

I am 28 years old and still have my tonsils.

Yeah, so? you might ask.

Most people I know that are my age do not have their tonsils. They are usually taken out at a very young age. I remember being in elementary school when a girl in my class had hers taken out and she brought them to school in one of those plastic cups they give you to pee in. I had never seen anything so gross. At the time, I wasn’t having problems with them or getting sick a lot so in they stayed.

It wasn’t until recently (and by recently, I mean the last 4-5 years) that I had started getting sick more often. It was tonsillitis every time. I could count on being sick 3-4 times a year, especially every time the weather changed. My glands would swell, it was super hard to swallow (and it hurt), and I just plain didn’t feel good.

In case you don’t know, not having insurance really sucks.

I was on my parents insurance until I was 23 (if I remember correctly), but these problems didn’t start happening until after that. Yeah, way to go, body.

You will find a constant supply of Mucinex, Tussin, nose sprays and Thera-Flu in my medicine cabinet. I just can’t afford to get sick. As soon as I feel like I’m getting sick, I start taking something.Take this week, for example. My left gland started to feel funny a few days ago and started to swell, and I had a cough . I went home that night and started with Mucinex and a nose spray. I’m trying to rest as much as I can.

So, the lesson here: take care of yourself. This just goes to show that I really need to. I need to start eating better, exercising more and getting more rest.
